We are looking for a hands-on IoT Engineer to take ownership of deploying and commissioning smart utility systems across a range of live projects. This is a practical, delivery-focused role where you will be working on real-world systems - from meters and gateways through to full platform integration - helping bring connected buildings and heat networks to life, while also supporting customers to ensure systems continue to operate effectively post-deployment.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a hands-on IoT Engineer to take ownership of deploying and commissioning smart utility systems across a range of live projects.

This is a practical, delivery-focused role where you will be working on real-world systems - from meters and gateways through to full platform integration - helping bring connected buildings and heat networks to life, while also supporting customers to ensure systems continue to operate effectively post-deployment.

  • Leading and supporting deployment of IoT systems across utilities and smart buildings
  • Configuring and commissioning meters, sensors, and data collection gateways
  • Working on-site and remotely to ensure systems are installed and operating correctly
  • Troubleshooting issues across hardware, connectivity, and data flows
  • Providing ongoing technical support to customers, helping diagnose and resolve issues
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients during and after deployment
  • Supporting LoRaWAN and other communication technologies
  • Integrating devices into the cThings platform and validating performance
  • Working closely with clients, installers, and internal teams
  • Supporting the rollout of new products and technologies
  • Analysing system performance data to improve reliability and outcomes

Skills and experience:

We are looking for you to have the following core skills:

  • Engineering background (degree or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong hands-on experience with IoT devices, hardware, or system deployment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with customers

It would be useful if you have an understanding of the following:

  • Experience in utilities, energy, or smart buildings
  • Knowledge of heat networks or district heating systems
  • Familiarity with LoRaWAN or similar wireless technologies
  • Understanding of networking (IP, gateways, connectivity)
  • Experience commissioning metering or building systems
  • Experience supporting live systems and customers post-deployment
  • Basic scripting or data analysis capability
